Wow. This is just amazing. Kinda makes their over-priced shit worth purchasing. I’m glad they are taking the lead in helping their transgender employees be who they truly are.
Starbucks has announced plans to offer comprehensive care for transgender employees, covering several procedures that are usually excluded by insurers.
In the new plan announced on Monday, Starbucks said that in addition to covering bottom surgery, they will now cover all other medical steps in a person’s transition.
This will cover several other procedures that were previously considered cosmetic – which can often be hard to obtain as insurers typically refuse to cover them.
I love how restaurants and other public places will bully these men and women until they get pushed back. Then they’re all “that’s not what we meant”. Bull-fucking-shit.
When a transgender woman got up to use the woman’s bathroom at a restaurant, she said she was asked to show her ID.
And when she refused, she said she got kicked out.
Charlotte Clymer, who identifies as female, works for the Human Rights Campaign. She said she was at Cuba Libre Restaurant and Rum Bar in Washington on Friday with a group of friends for a bachelorette party.
Clymer wrote on Twitter that the group was having a good time. But things shifted when she and a friend went to use the bathroom.
On her way there, an attendant at the restaurant asked Clymer for her ID, she wrote. But, she said, he didn’t ask anyone else for theirs.
I will let her speak for herself.

One of the most often overlooked groups of society. They want the same things we want: peace, liberty, a good job, and most of all, to live their whole authentic selves. Those transgender immigrants deserve the same things the rest of them do. So heart breaking that she died so young. </3
A transgender woman who was part of the caravan of Central American migrants that arrived at the US border earlier this month died in custody Friday from what appeared to be cardiac arrest.
Roxsana Hernandez, 33, died in the custody of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had been taken to another hospital in New Mexico more than a week earlier with symptoms of pneumonia, dehydration, and complications associated with HIV.
Hernandez asked for asylum at the San Ysidro port of entry on May 9, according to Pueblo Sin Fronteras, which organized the caravan. The group said she was first detained by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in holding cells known as “iceboxes” because of how cold they are.
It’s hard to judge the real culprit of her lack of work since the industry seems so wishy-washy.
When showrunner Scottie Madden first came out as a trans woman to an executive at Discovery Inc.’s Animal Planet in January 2015, she felt relieved. “If my top-level client is OK with this, then I’m going to be OK,” she’d told herself. Before transitioning, she had worked with the network to develop Dude, You’re Screwed, an adventure reality series that ended up airing on the company’s flagship network, Discovery Channel. As Madden recalls it, the executive had been “so blown away and happy and accepting.” From there, the showrunner proceeded to come out to all her colleagues in reality television. Their acceptance, Madden said, bordered “on the verge of surreal.”
But Madden’s optimism was misplaced. Now, more than three years after coming out, Madden says that neither Discovery, nor any other network or production company, has hired her to run another show.
I’m thankful to the people of Alaska for doing the right thing and defeating such heinous laws. I am waiting for the day some asshole decides to question whether I was born a female. I will sue them for sexual harassment and anything else my lawyer can dream up. Guaranteed. I mean how do you know what gender anyone was born unless you follow them into the bathroom and look at their sex organs?
Voters in Anchorage, Alaska, have narrowly defeated a bill that would have stopped transgender people from using the bathrooms and changing rooms that correspond with their gender identity.
Nearly 53 percent of voters cast their ballots against Proposition 1, which was proposed by nonprofit Christian policy group Alaska Family Action.
Such a tragedy that this has happened a mere five days into the new year. And by someone she thought loved her.
Rest in Peace Christa Leigh Steele-Knudslien.
This is in no way meant to disrespect any transgender soldiers currently serving or wanting to serve in any branch of the military, but I don’t understand why you’d want to risk your life and livelihood for a country who doesn’t respect who you are as a living breathing human being. Is it that you come from a family with a history of military service? Is there some other reason I’m unable to think of? There are so many in this country, starting at the very top of the “food chain” who, quite frankly, abhor your existence, yet you’re willing to defend them. That’s pretty selfless of you, whoever you are. I hope that someday the people who hate you so much have a change of heart somehow, but I doubt it will be in my lifetime. Anyway, the good news is that you will no longer be banned from serving if you so choose.
The Trump administration must accept transgender recruits into the military by Jan. 1, a federal judge ruled Monday.
The decision prevents a ban on enlisting new transgender troops that the administration had sought to implement after an earlier injunction against the president’s order.
“The court will not stay its preliminary injunction pending defendants’ appeal,” Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia wrote Monday.
On the one hand, this story is heart breaking because the parents are so ignorant and it’s the child who is paying. On the other hand, it’s heart warming because this woman has a child she might not otherwise have been able to have.
A child in India was abandoned by its parents after they discovered that her blood donor was a transgender woman.
Rekha (not her real name) saved the anaemic baby’s life with a blood transfusion, but later found the baby outside her house with a handwritten note attached.
The parents had deserted the child as they were worried she would become “one of them” – meaning a trans person – because a trans woman’s blood was running through her veins.
So Rekha decided to adopt and raise the baby herself.
A British comic talking about how wrong our ban on transgender serving in the military is. Always nice to hear an outsider’s point of view.
