Boy Scouts boot openly gay scout leader

Seriously? Deliberately injecting his sexuality into the job??? FFS people!

An openly gay Boy Scouts troop leader in Washington state was abruptly removed from his post for “deliberately injecting” his sexuality into the job, the Boy Scouts of America announced on Monday.

Geoff McGrath, scoutmaster of Seattle’s Troop 98, was being profiled by NBC News when the organization said it was severing ties with him.

“Our policy is that we do not ask people about their sexual orientation,” Boy Scouts spokesman Deron Smith said in a statement to NBC. “And it’s not an issue until they deliberately inject it into Scouting in an inappropriate fashion.

“The National Council has revoked his registration,” Smith added.

Elderly Gay NYC Man, Allegedly Killed For ‘Blowing Kisses’

This just breaks my heart. I mean it’s bad enough that the poor man was a victim of a hate crime, but it just somehow feels worse because he was elderly too. 😦

I hope Karma is a bitch to that boy and bites him HARD.

A 69-year-old gay man was allegedly stabbed to death with an eight-inch knife under a New York subway station in broad daylight Sept. 16.

Though witnesses initially speculated that the attack occurred over a cell phone, officials are now reporting that the victim lost his life because the attacker thought the man was gay, according to NBC.

Steven Torres, a 22-year-old Bronx resident, is facing charges of second degree murder for the death of Ever Orozco after allegedly attacking the man beneath the elevated 7 train station at 90th St. and Roosevelt Ave. as he was feeding a parking meter around 1:30 p.m.

“There was a lot of screaming, and all I could see was the guy was stabbing him — stabbing him and stabbing him,” stated Eddie De Jesus, a local stop owner who bore witness to the incident.

Russian anti-gay laws impact Olympics, vodka sales

Well I don’t drink vodka at all so I can’t stop buying what I have never bought, but I understand the sentiment. I think the main goal is to protect athletes from other countries who may go to Sochi and be arrested for being gay. I’d have serious second thoughts if I were an athlete training for the Olympics.

I don’t agree with the in-your-face tactics of a gay-pride parade, but I think gestures by individual athletes would be more than acceptable.

NEW YORK (AP) — Russian vodka and the Winter Olympics in Sochi. For now, those are the prime targets as gays in the United States and elsewhere propose boycotts and other tactics to convey their outrage over Russia’s intensifying campaign against gay-rights activism.

At many gay bars across North America, owners have joined a campaign to stop selling Russian vodka – notably the popular brand Stolichnaya. Activists also are pressing the International Olympic Committee and NBC, which holds U.S. broadcasting rights for Sochi, to be more aggressive in criticizing new Russian laws.

So far, there have been only scattered calls for a full-fledged boycott of the Sochi Games, but there is active discussion of how to convey gay-rights messages once the competition begins – including gestures by individual athletes and perhaps a gay-pride parade.

Florida teen arrest update

This is a follow up to the story I shared yesterday about the Lesbian teen who had a relationship with a minor. The Today Show more accurately describes it as a relationship problem based on age difference. I have signed a lot of petitions on and will probably do so in the future, but I will not sign this one as I believe she is wrong and will have to suffer the consequences of her choice.

An 18-year-old Florida cheerleader must decide by Friday whether to accept a plea deal that would spare her prison time for a sexual relationship she had with an underage female classmate.

Kaitlyn Hunt faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted on the two charges she faces of lewd and lascivious battery on a minor. She also would have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

The Florida state attorney has offered Hunt a plea deal that would label her as a convicted felon and require her to attend sex offender counseling. She also would be under house arrest for two years.
