Hard to believe that two short years ago, so many lives were changed forever by the hate in one man’s heart. Support the Kickstarter campaign shown at the bottom of the photo gallery on the link below.
It’s been nearly a year and this heartbreaking story lingers. 😦 Any one of us could’ve been in that situation. Always be thankful for your familial and friendly support if you are fortunate enough to have it.
The news had to hit hard. For those families who waited all day after news of the Pulse shooting first broke, the confirmation process moved at a painfully slow pace. Many parents had to wait more than 24 hours to find out for certain why their child would not pick up the phone and verify they were OK. The loved ones of the 49 killed that night learned heartbreaking news that suddenly shifted their emotion from worry to sorrow and redirected their energy toward funeral plans.
But one father greeted news a different way, not by weeping for his son but in anger toward a child he refused to accept. Why? Because the child was gay. The father wouldn’t even take the body from the morgue.
Two things I find true across the board about hateful Republicans:
First….They are absolutely cowardly when it comes to confronting their victims. They rile against liberals who want to be politically correct, which to my mind simply means having the courtesy to not be an asshole to everyone you come into contact with. If I can’t be “politically correct,” then I DEMAND that you own up to your hate and put your fucking name to hateful messages.
Second…. They always have a passive-aggressive tone to their letter. “Don’t take this the wrong way…” How the fuck should it be taken? If it’s not personal, don’t write a fucking letter.
A lesbian couple in their seventies was attending a Hillsborough County Women’s Democratic Club meeting at their local library in Florida recently when they came out to discover a disgusting, homophobic note on their car.
Well this is surprising news, I must say. I’m glad she’s been arrested, though. I’m tired of these women pleading ignorance when I’m quite sure the opposite is true.
Noor Salman, the widow of Pulse shooter Omar Mateen, has been arrested in California, where she faces charges for aiding and abetting, as well as obstruction of justice. After her husband killed 49 people inside Orlando’s gay nightclub this June, Salman relocated to San Francisco and will make her first appearance tomorrow.
You are seven levels of stupid if you’re going to announce your intentions far in advance and quite publicly so the police and your target can prepare for whatever you think you’re going to do.
Police in a Fort Lauderdale, Fla. suburb are looking for a man with an extensive criminal record who posted a frightening threat on Facebook: “It’s time to clean up Wilton Manors from all you AIDS-infested losers,” and “None of you deserve to live. If you losers thought the Pulse Nightclub shooting was bad, wait ’til you see what I’m planning for Labor Day.”
My Lovelies, break out your case of tissue before you watch this. It’s so simple, yet so profound and beautiful.
I have definitely notice that even the likes of Hillary Clinton focus on the massacre of 12 June 2016 as being a terrorist/Muslim crime, but a hate crime. Full stop. End of story.
In the aftermath of the Orlando massacre, Utah Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox attended a vigil for the victims and gave a speech, which soon went viral, in which he apologized for his past homophobic behavior and thanked the LGBTQ community for being patient with him while he evolved.
This is a beautiful song!!
I’ve never heard a man sing this song. He does it true justice. ❤
I’d really like to hear the opinions of any who follow this blog. What are your thoughts if it turns out the gunman was a closeted gay man? Does it change how we should approach this? Please share your thoughts.
More and more I’m thinking he was deep in the closet.
What happens when it’s revealed that the man who killed 49 queer people — most of them queer people of color — and wounded 53 others at a queer nightclub might have been a longtime patron of that club and that he was spotted on gay sex apps?
One of the most horrific and heartbreaking moments in modern American history threatens to become even more horrific and heartbreaking.
Suddenly, instead of simply (or not so simply) blaming the mass shooting on a dizzyingly noxious cocktail of hate, extremism, mental illness and offensively lax gun laws, we now must also grapple with the gruesome and all-too-familiar specter of internalized homophobia materializing to haunt this tragedy.
