So glad this girl’s friends are looking out for her. Shameful that her parents disowned her, but we see that a lot, no matter how much progress is made.
An online fundraiser has grown for a local college student who was cut off by her parents when they found out she was gay.
Webster native Emily Scheck says her parents cut ties in August when they found out she’s in a relationship with a woman.
Scheck, a sophomore at Canisius College in Buffalo, receives a partial scholarship as a Division I cross-country and track athlete. But her parents wanted her to give it all up and go to counseling because she’s gay.
These two attractive women deserve this honor. So thrilled to see ESPN taking this critical step.
Soccer player Megan Rapinoe and WNBA star Sue Bird just became the first openly gay couple to appear on the cover of ESPN’s iconic body issue.
“It’s important for people to come out. Visibility is important,” Rapinoe, 32, told ESPN’s Jemele Hill in an interview published Monday. “It’s important for there to be a first one on the cover [of the body issue], or whatever. Just in terms of the culture and society, someone has to do it.”
All these ignorant straight folk just don’t get it.
The Boston Red Sox did a totally cool thing Thursday night for their LGBT Pride night vs. the Detroit Tigers when they painted the team’s logo in rainbow colors as a decal on the pitching mound prior to the game.
This is not the first such night the Red Sox have had honoring their LGBT fans, and the team celebrated on Instagram and Twitter.
This led to a surprising backlash from some fans who — in their comments on the team’s Instagram page — showed why such nights are necessary. I say surprising because these such nights have become so routine and non-controversial that 24 of the 30 MLB teams have similar events this year.
Both sides of this story have the right to do what they have done. Mr Berger has the right to be a complete bigoted asshole and the CEO of CrossFit has every right to remove him from the company. Don’t expect people to just accept your attitude when you cannot accept who they are as an individual. I’d like to know why the Indianapolis location changed its mind, too. Not much was said about that.
A high-ranking CrossFit employee told BuzzFeed News that he has been placed on an unpaid leave of absence after tweeting his support for a CrossFit gym’s cancellation of a Pride event, citing his belief that celebrating LGBT pride is a “sin.”
Russell Berger, the mega-successful fitness company’s chief knowledge officer and often its de facto spokesperson, said he does not know how long his leave of absence will last. But his work — including his writing for the Russells, a blog about scientific misconduct that he maintains with colleague Russell Greene — has been put on hold at least temporarily, he told BuzzFeed News.
Berger got into hot water Wednesday afternoon when he tweeted about a CrossFit gym in Indianapolis, Indiana, where owners canceled a workout in honor of Pride Month. Many of the coaches and employees quit in protest, according to WTTV TV in Indianapolis. On Wednesday, the gym posted notices that it was shutting down.
His name is Adam Rippon and he’s the first openly gay Winter Olympian. He’s a figure skater who is poised to compete in the Winter Olympics in Peyongchang, South Korea. Can’t say I blame him for rejecting any interviews with the Vice President. After all, despite the claims of the Vice Presidential staff, he is notoriously anti-gay. If I were Adam Rippon, there would never be an interview even post-Olympics.
Adam Rippon, the first openly gay athlete to win a place on the US Winter Olympics team, turned down an invitation to meet Vice President Mike Pence on Thursday, the second time he’s done so.
“I don’t want to distract from the competition or make this too much for my competitors and my teammates,” the figure skater, 28, said on Thursday.
It’s one thing for you to disagree with how your sibling is raising her/his child. It’s one thing for you to disagree with allowing one gender to wear the clothes of another. But it is Super Assholey of you to yell at a child and then post it on the Internet for millions to watch AND IT NEVER FUCKING GOES AWAY. Lewis Hamilton is the ultimate lowlife asshole scum.
Lewis Hamilton, the reigning Formula One World Champion, has yelled at a small child, mocking him for wearing a princess dress.
Hamilton, 32, took issue with his nephew’s Christmas present – to such an extent that he shouted at him on camera.
And then he uploaded the video to his 5.7 million Instagram followers.
Because when you loudly mock a child for dressing up in a costume which just so happens to go against gender norms, you want the whole world to see – apparently.
If apologizing to any complaint is a routine matter, perhaps they didn’t really mean to apologize to anyone else who has ever voiced a complaint. Seems to me like the Seattle Mariners aren’t a team worth following if they don’t really care about their fans and how they are mistreated at a game. Great job, Mariners!! Their dumbass employees need to learn what the difference is between a hug or a quick kiss and full on tonsil licking. I have had to witness the latter among hetero couples for my whole life.
An incident involving a lesbian couple at a Seattle Mariners game Friday night has the team both apologizing to and pointing fingers at the couple. The two women are left wondering why they were told that their basic displays of public affection were deemed inappropriate by the people who complained, including a Mariners staffer.
On Friday, Giuliana Garcia and Calista Nabors attended the Mariners’ home game against the Anaheim Angels. Garcia, a San Francisco Giants fan, was there to watch the Angels’ new pitcher, Tim Lincecum, a former Giant who lasted three innings that night against some hot Mariners bats.
I saw this ad run last night while I was watching the Olympics. High praise for Nike for this advert.
So wonderful to see this happening and that the other players are embracing it!!
The Brazilian women’s rugby sevens team may not have fared so well on Monday, earning a ninth-place finish in the Olympics’ inaugural showing of the sport. But for athlete Isadora Cerullo, the night ended in smiles, kisses and love after her girlfriend proposed to her on the field in Rio.
Cerullo’s longtime partner, Majorie Enya, a manager at the Deodoro Stadium, popped the question after delivering an emotional speech Monday night, BBC Sport reported.
“As soon as I knew she was in the squad, I thought I have to make this special,” Enya told the outlet. “I know rugby people are amazing and they would embrace it.”
