Plan to Allow Docs to Refuse to Treat Trans People Set to Go Forward

Well isn’t that just peachy? Fuck every last mother fucker in this regime and beyond. I swear to god I’d spit in the face of any politician that tried to talk to me. Of ANY fucking party.

The Trump Administration’s plan to allow doctors to deny treatment to trans people is set to be implemented.

The policy recently announced by the Trump administration would allow healthcare professionals to refuse to treat LGBT+ people if they have a religious objection.

States Banning Conversion Therapy

So so thrilled to see this as reality!! We don’t need to be “fixed” as there’s nothing wrong with us.

A record number of jurisdictions this year are taking aim at conversion therapy for minors: an attempt to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity through tactics as obvious as hypnosis or as subtle as inducing shame.

Almost 50 bills have been introduced in 24 states targeting conversion therapy, which has been discredited by dozens of medical associations and child-welfare institutions. On Tuesday, 11 of them — including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Counseling Association — released a letter urging states to make such bills a priority.

“Being LGBTQ is not an illness,” said Xavier Persad, legislative counsel for the Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ rights advocacy group. “It is false that being LGBTQ is wrong and a disorder.”

Hospitals are Making Strides for More Inclusive LGBT Healthcare

The government certainly doesn’t care about the LGBT community, so it’s nice to see some hospitals taking the initiative themselves. I told my old GP that I’m a lesbian and she was totally cool with it. Switched to a different GP, but haven’t told her yet. I remember visiting a Walgreens clinic a few years ago and when the doctor asked me if I needed the pill, I laughed and assured her that would never be necessary. She asked how I was so sure and, not knowing how else to say it (it was my first time revealing my sexuality to a physician), I said, “I’m the ‘L’ in LGBT.” She had no idea what I meant, soooo I had to spell it out.

Health care facilities across the U.S. are making “tremendous strides” toward LGBTQ-inclusive care, according to a new report by national LGBTQ advocacy group Human Rights Campaign.

The organization’s annual Healthcare Equality Index (HEI), now in its 11th year, found “remarkable progress” in areas including transgender-specific policies for patients, transgender-inclusive benefits for employees and LGBTQ-patient-care training for staff.

“This year has ushered in a new high watermark in LGBTQ inclusion in health care,” HRC President Chad Griffin said in a statement.

Gay ‘cure’ therapist had sex with patients

FURTHER proof that those who hate LGBT the most are the ones who are deepest in the closet.

Dr Melvyn Iscove, 72, was registered as a psychiatrist with the  College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and claimed to be able to ‘cure’ patients of ‘same-sex attraction’.

However, Dr Iscove – who was described as having a “special interest in the treatment of patients with problems related to homosexuality” – was handed a suspension this week for having sex with patients.

The committee alleged that Iscove,  who believes homosexuality is a “sexual disorder”, engaged in “mutual masturbation and oral sex” with two male patients during sessions, and had anal sex with one male patient.

Gay Republican Who Criticized the ACA Needs Help

My how the tables do turn. I’m sure gay Republicans aren’t the only ones who will be stuck in this position. When any young adult suddenly needs insurance for something he desperately needs because a wreck happened or because she’s found out that she’s got a debilitating disease that she would’ve known about if only she’d sought out doctor’s care before now. Either case, this ass deserves to be called out.

There’s a lot of debate going on about healthcare right now. The question that skeptics always ask is, “Why should I pay for someone else’s healthcare?” The answer is because that’s how insurance works.

Still, many people ask that question, including one twitter user who goes by Sassy Gay Republican. However another twitter user, Billy Armagh, noticed the Sassy Gay Republican singing a different tune when he was the one in need of healthcare.

CA HIV Laws Changed

Any followers from California? How do you feel about this? Or even if you’re not from California, please tell me your thoughts. I’m not sure how to feel.

California updated its HIV laws on Friday, as Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill that downgrades the crime of intentionally infecting a sexual partner with the virus from a felony to a misdemeanor.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the bill was authored by Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) and Assemblyman Todd Gloria (D-San Diego), as today’s advances in the field of medicine now allow people with HIV to live longer, with a greatly reduced risk of transmitting the virus to someone else. Furthermore, the lawmakers emphasized that the change in California’s HIV laws would allow for the state to treat the virus like other serious infectious diseases.

“Today California took a major step toward treating HIV as a public health issue, instead of treating people living with HIV as criminals,” read a statement from Wiener.

TX Bill Requires Women to Have Fetal Funerals

This is absolutely sick and I will not be travelling to Texas ever again for the foreseeable future. IF I move West again, I will naturally have to drive through Texas, but I will not spend a penny more than I absolutely have to in order to get through it. The government HAS NO RIGHT TO CONTROL A WOMAN’S BODY!!!!!!!

Texas legislators have introduced a bill colloquially known as the “fetal funerals” law, and as if that name isn’t disturbing enough, what the new decree stipulates is even more horrifying.

Senate Bill 8, as it’s officially titled, mandates a few things: first, that all fetal remains must be buried or cremated—this means that whether you have an abortion or miscarry, you’ll have to have a funeral of sorts for your lost fetus. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: The Handmaid’s Tale is real life.

Hate Group Masquerading As Pediatricians Attacks Transgender Youth

This is vile and sickening that this group is allowed to exist. I have admitted here before that I do not understand all the intricacies of what a transgender man or woman has felt or even a fraction of what they go through during their lives, but no one has the right to be abusive and attack transgender youth OR adults.

For example, the statement not-so-subtly concludes that all transgender people must be mentally ill. “A person’s belief that he or she is something they are not is, at best, a sign of confused thinking,” the statement reads. “When an otherwise healthy biological boy believes he is a girl, or an otherwise healthy biological girl believes she is a boy, an objective psychological problem exists that lies in the mind not the body, and it should be treated as such.”

6 Problems Of Aging While Gay

Hello Lovelies!!

This is something I think a lot of us really need to consider. None of us are getting younger (even though I’m sure we wish that weren’t true) and it’s better if we can put things into action while we’re young rather than waiting til the last minute.

  1. What happens if you don’t have kids?
  2. Few have enough money for retirement, but LGBT seniors have even less.
  3. LGBT elders are more likely to be alone.
  4. Discrimination is still alive and well.
  5. Housing is a hot button.
  6. LGBT elders’ health concerns go beyond those of the general population’s.

Details are on the original article.

A Big LGBT Health Study Is Coming To The iPhone

We don’t know as much as we’d like about the role sexual orientation and gender identity play in health and wellness. And though there’s a clear need for it, comprehensive medical research into the health needs of the LGBT population can be tough to find. The Institute of Medicine summed it up this way in 2011: LGBT people “have unique health experiences and needs, but as a nation, we do not know exactly what these experiences and needs are.” It wasn’t until two years ago that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s annual National Health Interview Survey even accounted for sexual orientation.

Now, a team of researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, is gearing up for what may prove to be the largest national study of LGBT health ever — and it’s using the iPhone to do it.
