India’s First Openly Gay Prince Has an Inspiring Message For the LGBT Community

Even while we struggle here in the US, places like India are just as bad, if not worse than here.

Prince Manvendra was tired of living a double life, pretending to be straight as the pressures of marriage continued after his first marriage failed.

He came out as gay in 2006, sparking outrage in the streets of India, and was disowned by his family.

Since then, he’s made an appearance on Oprah and spoken about how difficult it is to be gay in a place like India, where there are very few gay icons in India’s pop culture.

Recently, he collaborated on a video project with ComeOut Loud and delivered a powerful, to-the-point message about being proud of who you are, no matter your sexual orientation.
